Arthur Spears, Presidential Professor Emeritus of Anthropology and Linguistics of The City University of New York, will discuss Juneteenth: Language, Freedom, and Segregation. Professor Spears will explore the connection around emancipation, as related to Juneteenth, Jim Crow segregation, and languages of African Americans spoken in the United States.
