University Announces New Temporary Expansion of the Employee Child Care Assistance Program (ECCAP)

On September 8, 2020, the University announced a new temporary expansion of the University’s Employee Child Care Assistance Program (ECCAP) for all benefits-eligible faculty and staff.

The expanded program provides a one-time lump sum payment for the sole purpose of helping employees pay for child care, Internet, computer and electronic equipment, or other related expenses necessary to support education at home for their children while they are working. To qualify, the following rules apply:

  • The child’s age is up to and including age 13 as of September 1, 2020.
  • The employee’s family Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) from 2019 must be at or below $200,000, and employee’s spouse or child’s other biological parent works at least 20 hours each week, or is a full-time student, or fully disabled, or does not live in the area to provide care for the child.
  • The employee is expected to work for Princeton regularly at least the equivalent of two full days per week, on or off campus, throughout the period of September 1 and December 31, 2020.
  • Refer to the COVID-19 Temporary Expansion of ECCAP for additional rules, including exclusions.
  • Submit your application no later than Thursday, October 15, 2020.

The payment amount for the four-month period of September 1–December 31, 2020, is:

Managers are encouraged to be as flexible as possible with hours of work to support and balance both operational and employees’ needs. Benefits-eligible employees may also utilize their available paid time off, including COVID-19 and vacation days, as needed during this time.
