2022 Donald Griffin ’23 Management Award: Call for Nominations

Jan. 11, 2022

On January 11, Vice President for Human Resources Lianne Sullivan-Crowley emailed all staff about the nomination process for the 2022 Donald Griffin ’23 Management Award.

The Griffin Management Award is an opportunity to support the professional growth of Princeton University managers and administrators. The Award recognizes those employees whose experiences and responsibilities indicate potential for leadership or the expansion of leadership skills and continuing contributions to the University. I am pleased to announce that the 2022 Donald Griffin ’23 Management Award Selection Committee is now accepting nominations through Monday, February 21, 2022.

Awardees receive a $2,500 grant to participate in a non-credit professional development class, program, or conference that offers motivation, fresh insights and perspectives, or enhanced skills that can be applied to their current roles. Two grants are awarded annually, one to an employee in administrative grades 1 through 5 or AIT grades 1-3 and one to an employee in administrative grades 6 through 10 or AIT grades 4-5. Awardees will be recognized in the spring.

Any employee can recommend a candidate for a Griffin Award by contacting the potential nominee’s manager. Interested employees also can recommend themselves for the award by contacting their managers directly. To be considered, nominees must have held administrative or managerial positions at Princeton for the past three years or more. Nominees and their nominating managers collaborate on developing a strong proposal together, which makes this nomination process unique and meaningful for participants. Completed nomination forms should be submitted to the Office of Human Resources by the nominating manager’s vice president, dean, or academic chair or director. The Selection Committee looks forward to receiving a diverse pool of nominees, representing a variety of backgrounds, roles, and experiences.

Detailed information about the Griffin Award, along with the nomination form, is available on the award’s webpage. You will find a number of helpful tips, including a list of programs and associations that foster professional development, improve overall productivity, or strengthen leadership effectiveness. In exploring these learning opportunities, I encourage you to consider those that support the University’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
