On October 3, 2022, Assistant Vice President for Human Resources Linda Nilsen emailed employees the following:
We are pleased to announce that 2nd.MD has replaced Teladoc Medical Experts for expert medical opinion services beginning on October 1, 2022.
2nd.MD is a free, confidential service that is available to benefits-eligible faculty, staff, and dependents whether or not you are enrolled in a Princeton medical plan. The benefit provides expert medical opinion services when you or your dependents are facing a healthcare concern and can provide you with confidence in your diagnosis and treatment plan.
2nd.MD’s services include:
- Expert second opinion: If you are faced with a new diagnosis, possible surgery, or a chronic condition, 2nd.MD will connect you with a leading board-certified specialist via phone or video call for a consultation and expert medical opinion typically within 3-5 days.
- Find a doctor: 2nd.MD can direct you to local high-quality in-network specialists for any issue, including mental health concerns.
- Expert support: 2nd.MD’s Care Team provides clinical guidance, education, and support for any medical concerns or questions.
- Medical Certainty Consult: If you are enrolled in a Princeton medical plan and are considering knee, back, or hip surgery, you will be eligible to receive a $400 taxable cash incentive if you receive an expert medical opinion prior to surgery.
You can register for 2nd.MD by calling (866) 841-2575 or visiting their website. If you register by December 31, 2022, 2nd.MD will enter you into a giveaway to win a $50 Visa Gift Card!
Note: This change does not impact telemedicine services provided through Teladoc. Princeton will continue to provide employees and eligible dependents enrolled in a Princeton medical plan access to Teladoc’s telemedicine services which include virtual visits for general medicine, mental health, and dermatology.
