My Health Coach

During the holiday season, My Health Coach recommends these stress management tips when you are feeling overwhelmed, as well as this self-guided imagery exercise that focuses on positive thoughts and images to help relieve tension.

Avoid Overeating During the Holidays

The holiday season is filled with festive gatherings, entertaining, and out-of-town guests. These events can trigger us to eat without thinking about how much food we really want and need. To help manage these situations, practice mindfulness-based eating tips so you can enjoy without overdoing it:

  • Savor your food, so you don’t eat too quickly.
  • Sit down to eat. Multitasking while you eat makes you forget how much you are actually eating.
  • Use a smaller plate to aid with portion control.
  • Practice gratitude by recognizing all the time and effort that goes into preparing tasty meals and sweet holiday treats
