On May 3, 2022, Vice President for Human Resources Lianne Sullivan-Crowley emailed all staff the following message:
The Princeton University campus will be overflowing with joyful occasions this month. Between May 18 and 24, we will hold two commencements, one for the Class of 2022 and one for the Class of 2020 whose commencement ceremony was not possible because of the pandemic. We are also expecting record high numbers of attendees at the annual Reunions, which we were not able to host for the past two years. All of this exciting and long-awaited news is reason to celebrate.
We are encouraging staff to work remotely, if possible, beginning May 18 and through May 24. In light of our ongoing growth and construction on campus, this will help to relieve pressures on parking and traffic congestion for the large numbers of families and guests attending commencements and Reunions, as well as for employees who must come to campus during this period to perform their jobs. Those who must work on campus May 18-24 should leave work by 2 p.m. on those days, as long as their roles allow and they have their manager’s approval. If possible, those staff should continue to work remotely for the remainder of the day, and at their manager’s direction. We extend a heartfelt thank you to the many employees who will be on campus working throughout these events. Your efforts are most appreciated.
In the meantime, it would be helpful for managers to review staffing needs for all days to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained, designate which staff positions perform essential services, and communicate your expectations to employees accordingly and with as much notice as possible. If you manage others, please contact your senior HR manager with any questions regarding scheduling and staffing.
Princeton’s Transportation and Parking Services (TPS) has prepared a webpage that outlines information related to parking during this busy period. If you have additional questions regarding transportation or parking, please email The Service Point at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 8-8300.
Thank you for helping to enable the University to hold these deeply meaningful and celebratory events for the classes of 2022 and 2020, and for all the alumni who gather for Reunions from classes spanning the decades. We appreciate everyone’s assistance and cooperation.
