Princeton acknowledges that time and space are needed during some of life’s most difficult situations and wants to better support employees. Effective July 1, the following updates will be implemented:
- Increase of paid bereavement days from three to 10 days for the death of a spouse, domestic partner (same or opposite sex), or child.
- Increase of paid bereavement days from three to five days for other immediate family members (as currently defined under our policy), or for a miscarriage, or for a failed adoption or surrogacy.
Arranging for Care Policy (renamed to “Care Arrangement and Compassion Leave”)
- Expanded use to include visiting a loved one in hospice, time taken for the death of a loved one otherwise not covered under the bereavement policy, and performing administration duties on behalf of the deceased. Eligibility remains the same: individuals must have completed five years of service as regular benefits-eligible employees.
